Frequently Asked Questions

Is the YouTube thumbnail downloader free?

Yes β€” completely free, unlimited and no sign-up required.

What thumbnail sizes can I download?

Up to five sizes: Full HD 1280Γ—720 (when the uploader provided one), SD 640Γ—480, HQ 480Γ—360, MQ 320Γ—180 and the 120Γ—90 default.

Why is there no Full HD option for some videos?

YouTube only generates a 1280Γ—720 thumbnail when the uploader uploaded a custom HD thumbnail. For other videos we show the best available quality automatically.

Which YouTube links are supported?

Regular watch links, short youtu.be links, Shorts, embed links and live stream links β€” anything containing a valid 11-character video ID.

Can I use downloaded thumbnails commercially?

Thumbnails belong to their respective video owners. Use them fairly β€” as references or placeholders β€” or get the owner’s permission for commercial use.

Is my link uploaded anywhere?

No. The video ID is extracted locally in your browser and thumbnails load directly from YouTube’s image servers.
